This article is, hence, just what you need to understand the basics of SEO and how an SEO agency can help you get to the top.

SEO by definition

SEO

It is initialized for search engine optimization. It is a code of conduct upon which stands a website’s ranking in any search engine. SEO services strengthen the website by improving its quality and providing it with an easy, user-friendly interface.

Certain fundamentals, controls, and functions are crucially integrated and result in a complex of multiple segments. These are cumbersome to apprehend at first, but once you break them in chunks SEO is quite easy to crack and the webmasters have it on their fingertips.

Search engine optimization has multiple stages and professionals of an SEO agency are experts in these stages and utilize each when required for optimized marketing. These stages are:

Types of Search Engine Optimization:

Technical SEO

What do you understand by the term technical? It directs you back to the framework or skeleton of a website. That is exactly what Technical SEO stands for. It configures the settings and working of a website without manipulating the content or links. This part of the SEO services is the foremost process and must be accurate for an ideal output.

A webpage is configured once and it is good to go. No maintenance is required in the future. Therefore, if technical search engine optimization services are not impeccable, your website won’t run smoothly. Conclusively, the interface and quality of the website are determined through the technical services.

On-site SEO

These services are restricted to the morphological appearance of the website and its content. All the elements of a page that are visible to the user come under on-page SEO. This, hence, indirectly incorporates user experience. The important elements include the structure, keyword placement, headings, subheadings, graphics, and other such things.

One thing to note is that these things are read by the user but the server interprets it all as signals. Therefore, the signals generated must not be complex and smooth enough to deliver properly.

Off-site SEO

The one thing off-site SEO is concerned about is enough backlinking. When the users enter a keyword in a search engine, it checks through millions of related webpages and brings forward the best among these. So, what are the criteria for selecting the best? It is the number of backlinks a webpage has.

Backlinks are the indirect connections that lead the user to your webpage. For example, if a blog on one page leads you to another page that means the former is a backlink to the latter page. SEO agencies provide services to maximize organic backlinking and hence, improve website ranking in search engines.

What Should my Content Cover to Rank on Google?

As recently as between five and 10 years ago, uploading any old text on a page with a selection of keywords stuffed in was enough for your website rank on Google. In the last few years, however, the search engine has wised up to such techniques and content must strike the correct balance between quantity and quality. As a general rule of thumb, any search term that you enter in Google should yield the very best result at the top of the page (below any AdWords listings, of course). This means that, in the eyes of Google, that page’s content covers all or, if not, most of the valid points that the user is looking for. In order for your page to rank number one, overtaking what is deemed to be the most authoritative page, your content must exceed and improve upon the information that is already available. Review First Page Results : In order for your content to cover all bases, the relevant research must be undertaken. Start by reviewing each of the first page results and list the points that have been covered in each – hopefully, you will notice gaps in each of the page’s content. Take, for example, page one covers points A, B, C, D, E and F, page two covers points A, B, D, F and G, and page three covers points B, C, F and H. While this does mean that the top-ranked page covers more points on the topic, there are two points (G and H) missing. If your content manages to cover points A-H, expanding on each point and offering new information not present on any of the other pages, you stand a great chance of ranking top of Google’s search results. Content Layout : As well as your content covering all of the points on your given topic, its layout also has a big say as to how well your page ranks. Google values user experience and, if your page is not easily digestible, your web page will not be received well at all. Regardless of whether the design of a website is for an academy school, blog or e-commerce site, the pages must be laid out to incorporate content. Keeping in mind that we are currently in the middle of the transition from desktop to mobile-first listings, websites should incorporate a responsive design – or a completely different mobile version of the website. How Long Should my Content Be? There is no minimum or maximum length in order to rank on Google, but it is generally accepted that a worthy piece of content should come to at least 400-500 words. Of course, if you aim to cover as many as eight main points, 400 words leaves you only 50 words per point – not including introduction and conclusion. It just isn’t enough. This is again where you should go back to the top-ranking pages and assess how long your competitor’s content is. If your competition is coming in with 800 words, then you should look to go better with 900-1000 words, although it must be stressed that quantity doesn’t necessarily mean quality – it must be well-written. Does Your Content Serve its Purpose? Once written, read through your content and ask yourself whether it serves its purpose. While you are familiar with the topic you have written about, would the content make sense and answer the questions of those who aren’t as familiar? If your content provides more questions than answers, it isn’t serving its purpose, even if it does cover more points than the competition. Google will give preferences to pages that serve the purpose that they have been created for – this will likely be gauged by the number of backlinks that the page as, confirming its validity as a useful resource. With quality content that answers the reader’s questions, your page should quickly earn authoritative backlinks and soon take its rightful place at the top of page one. SEO Predictions

3 Major SEO Predictions for 2020

Search engine optimization (SEO) is an ever-evolving concept because digital technology is always succeeding in finding new ways to elevate the user experience. With each algorithm formula change, it gets more difficult to rank because the bar of excellence is being raised continuously by search engines like Google and Bing. Search engine algorithms are calculated to make optimization user-friendly but, at the same time, it makes it challenging for companies to stay ahead of digital marketing ranking factors. Here are three major SEO predictions for 2020. 1. Screenless Voice Queries: Data collected by Gartner finds that by 2020, a third to half of search engine queries will be screenless voice queries. This isn’t such a problematic prediction because the technology had been slowly shifting to the dominance of voice-activated technology because of the popularity of Siri and Alexa. More than 77 million Americans also use voice-assistance applications when driving, which has encouraged hands-free voice technology as the preferred method when shopping or searching for credible data. PCs and mobile phones will come ready to use with standard screenless voice query apps. Instead of returning results in a ranked list of indexed content, businesses need to prepare now for search engines returning the top-rated content, much like the formula for Google Maps. The queries will take into consideration consumer engagement, referrals and brand recognition. This is a primary concern, so SEO companies like San Jose SEO Smart Street Media are helping clients now prepare for voice query keywords. 2. Social Media, Content Indexing & SEO: SEO will still be dependent on searches, but social media platforms will become a   significant factor in organic ranking in 2020. Historically, indexing focused on targeted keywords and long-tail phrases but, soon, the content will be ranked on branding, engagement, and keyword strong points. Unless your business focuses more on content that drives social media engagement, you’ll be missing out on essential ranking criteria. Social media marketing will become more credible and creative as well. As most of the world check social media at least once daily, companies will need the expertise of SEO companies or social media managers to ensure that their local SEO and national SEO strategy includes engagement, likes, shares, and comments. Another similar prediction is that as referrals will increase ranking, trends like backlinks will become less influential. 3. PC or Mobile-first Indexing SERP: Consumers have heard about mobile-first indexing since 2018 because desktop searches were continuously declining as smartphone usage increased. Google took the initiative to prepare for the future with its mobile-first index. In 2020, digital marketers will encourage businesses to offer dual website designs for PC and mobile phone users since search engines will soon answer user queries with either a PC or mobile-first indexing answer. With the mobile-first indexing, Google won’t want to index switchboard tags and will return the search engine results page (SERP) recommendations based on how a user requests information. Ultimately, each of these predictions will depend mainly on SEO-qualifying content that is indexed based on the targeted user’s device and will drive traffic to sites that ultimately deliver.
