YouTube Ends Premium Lite Plans After 2 Year Trial Period

In a recent development, YouTube has decided to discontinue its Premium Lite subscription plan, which had been on a two-year trial run. Subscribers to this lower-cost ad-free video viewing option will no longer have access to it after October 25th, 2023.

Launched at €6.99 per month back in 2021, YouTube’s Premium Lite was initially available in select European countries, including Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden. The plan offered an ad-free viewing experience across all of YouTube’s apps and formats. However, it did not include additional Premium features such as offline downloads, background playback, or access to YouTube Music.

For existing Premium Lite subscribers, this discontinuation leaves them with two choices: return to watching YouTube with ads or upgrade to the pricier YouTube Premium, which includes YouTube Music. YouTube is offering Lite subscribers a one-month free trial of YouTube Premium, even if they’ve had a trial before.

To take advantage of this offer, subscribers will need to either cancel their Lite subscription or wait for it to be canceled automatically. It’s worth noting that YouTube had previously increased the prices of its Premium and Music subscriptions in the United States earlier this year. Which is why a number of people canceled their YouTube premium membership.

In an email to its users, YouTube stated, “We’re writing to let you know that after 25 October 2023, we will no longer be offering your version of Premium Lite. While we understand that this may be disappointing news, we continue to work on different versions of Premium Lite as we incorporate feedback from our users, creators, and partners.”

The discontinuation of Premium Lite has prompted disappointment among subscribers. Premium Lite might not have been widely known outside the select European regions where it was available, but for those who appreciated ad-free viewing without the added features of YouTube Premium, it filled a niche that’s now left wanting.YouTube’s decision to end Premium Lite leaves subscribers with important decisions to make regarding their viewing experience, and the move has sparked conversations about the evolving landscape of YouTube subscriptions.

Kelly Clarkson has recently told the media about the sweet gesture Taylor Swift shows each time she re-records her albums. The host of Kelly Clarkson Show revealed to E! News, “You know what's so funny? She just sent me flowers. She's so nice. She did. She was like, 'Every time I release something'—'cause she just did 1989. I got that really cute cardigan, too." As we know, Kelly had suggested in a tweet back in 2019 that Taylor should re-record her music after Scooter Braun's company Ithaca Holdings LLC acquired her former label Big Machine Label Group, and got hold of the rights to the masters for her first six studio albums. And that's precisely what Taylor did - she re-recorded her music. The American Idol ex has praised the efforts of Swift fans for supporting Taylor all along. Kelly concluded, "It's so cool to see a fanbase really get behind her in that too because it's important. She's known for being such an incredible songwriter and the soundtrack to a lot of people's lives and that's her life. So, you should have the option of owning that." Kelly is now the daytime talk show host of her show and is also the owner of SiriusXM channel Kelly Clarkson Connection. Latest Google Discover Feature Allows Access To Liked Stories 

A few years ago, Google introduced a sweet new feature for Discover users called the "heart" button. This button will allow you to give feedback on article recommendations. It also enhances your personalized experience. And now these pages have a special place to reside. 9to5Google, a recent Google Discover update will enable users to access a webpage called "Interests" which features three top tabs. If you want to use this feature, open the Google app on Android and tap the "Saved" icon in the bar at the bottom. This will take you to the Interests page that has three tabs: "Saved," "Liked," and "Followed." Saved: This tab will show a list of videos and articles that you have bookmarked. Liked: This tab has a grid of all the articles and YouTube videos you have hearted in Discover. Followed: This tab will show a list of searches that you may be following. To add an article or video to the "Liked" section you can simply tap the icon in the Google app while on the page in Discover. If you want to remove the articles and videos from the Interests, tap the icon again. The update is going to work on Android only. There is no word on when it might be available on iOS. It may not be a big update as such but this tweak can enhance the daily content navigation experience. Google is encouraging the use of the "Saved" button as a convenient read-it-later service. You can also share your curated collections with other users which will add a touch of social to the feature. Country Music Wins Big At The 2023 Billboard Music Awards

The 2023 Billboard Music Awards are here and the winners are going countryside. Presented by Marriott Bonvoy the annual music awards show aired on Sunday. It was viewable through BBMAs.watch and Taylor Swift won big with nominations in 20 categories. SZA and Morgan Wallen tied for second-most number of nominations with 17 each. The Weeknd has had 16 nominations and Drake was a finalist in 14 categories. Zach Bryan came close with 13 awards.
