Remember when you were newlyweds? When you were still deeply in love and riding the high from your beautiful wedding day?

It’s only natural things have changed from there; real life sets in and things get busier and more complicated. The honeymoon stage wears off, and that’s okay.

If you’re feeling, however, like you’ve bypassed a stage of comfort in your marriage and headed straight for the land of daily arguments, constant annoyance with your spouse, or even widespread secret-keeping, your marriage may be in need of fixing.

If you feel as though you and your spouse might benefit from seeing a marriage counselor, but aren’t sure if the signs are there, read on. Here are 8 major signs it might be time to take your marriage to a professional. Your marriage is worth saving.

1. Even Small Conversations Become Arguments:

We all have days once in a while where even the tiniest thing can set us off. That’s normal. But if you begin to feel as though any time you and your spouse interact, your conversations turn into full-blown arguments, it could be a serious sign you ought to seek counseling.

You should be able to have conversations and make small decisions naturally and easily. The occasional grumpy retort is okay, but when things are blown out of proportion, or you find yourself keeping your mouth shut to avoid any interaction, it’s become a problem.

You need to be able to talk about the big, important things with your spouse – but you also need to be able to interact peacefully on a daily basis.

2. You’ve Stopped Sharing Opinions:

Another sign it may be time for a bit of professional intervention in your marriage is when you find yourself failing to express opinions to avoid arguments or conversation. You should still be able to voice your thoughts on that restaurant she loves; you should be able to tell him you’d rather not go out tonight.

Although it may seem like keeping quiet is a means of keeping the peace, staying quiet and failing to share your thoughts can quickly become toxic. Don’t let even small things build up – and if they are, consider taking it to counseling.

3. You Realize You’re Keeping Secrets:

At any given time, the average person is keeping 13 secrets under wraps – 5 of which they’ve never told anybody. Secret-keeping is natural and can be innocent, but if you find yourself holding back a significant amount of serious secrets, it’s probably time to evaluate why.

Many secrets include things like infidelity or financial woes or other major elements of life. Some people find themselves so caught up in their secret-keeping they reach a point where their spouse hardly knows them anymore. If you feel as though you’re on the brink of living a double life, it’s probably time to take it to marriage counseling to get things out on the table.

4. You’ve Both Been Ignoring Intimacy:

For many marriages, intimacy plays a critical role in feeling connected as a couple. If you’ve seen a significant shift or a halt in your sex life, it may not only be a sign that your marriage is becoming distanced, but it may also be a major contributing factor. If you’re having little or no sex when you used to do it on the regular, you might find yourself feeling the impact on an emotional level.

In many cases, intimacy can take effort on behalf of both partners. Once you’ve re-established the connection with your spouse, it can begin to feel more natural again – but you may be in need of a little intervention before that can happen.

Marriage counselling may have the ability to create a safe space for you and your partner to discuss intimacy issues, and result in a healthier way of approaching topics such as boundaries, fantasies, or even erectile dysfunction. Having a partner who encourages you to visit somewhere like this ED Clinic Fullerton can make all the difference in your relationship. Being able to confide in your spouse about a vulnerable topic is a huge part of trust and progress with your intimacy.

5. Somebody’s Been Unfaithful:

Okay, so maybe this one should be obvious: Most of the time when one partner goes beyond the bounds of marriage vows, things don’t just settle back into place naturally. It usually takes work to restore faith and trust in the relationship. This can often be seriously helped along by an intervention of a marriage counselor.

Unfaithfulness can go beyond the bounds of sexual intimacy with a person who’s not your spouse; it could also be categorized as unfaithfulness in finances or unfaithfulness to other life commitments. If trust has been breached, it may be time for someone else to step in and help you to sort things out.

6. You’d Rather Spend Time Apart:

Remember when you were dating? How you could hardly stand to be apart from one another? As you matured and got married, you probably naturally became more comfortable spending time apart.

It’s natural to seek alone time, and it’s totally healthy to spend time away from your spouse. But if it’s to the point where you’d consistently prefer to be away from your partner…well, that’s a problem.

Look at simple situations, like lazy days around the house. Do you elect to watch TV upstairs while he watches it downstairs? Do you move about the house without speaking or acknowledging one another? It’s probably time to fix that.

7. You Feel Like You’re Performing:

Some people manage to do a good job of keeping the peace, even when the marriage really feels as though it’s collapsing in on itself. But after a while, putting on a happy performance when, really, you’re not happy at all can start to wear on a spouse. If you feel like you’re putting on a brave face in the midst of a poor marriage, your marriage likely needs intervention.

Partaking in affectionate behaviors when you’re not feeling up to it – and doing so consistently – is both a means of ignoring a glaring problem and a contributing factor to discontent. If you feel like you’re putting in lots of effort to avoid admitting there’s a problem, then there’s most definitely a problem.

8. You’re Hoping for a Miracle:

When in low parts of relationships, we sometimes find ourselves thinking, “If we can just get through this rough patch…” But the fact is, most rough patches won’t get smoothed out automatically. There likely won’t be any miracle change that comes through to restore your marriage; you’ve got to work for it.

If you find yourself focusing your hopes on the idea that your spouse might just change and fix everything, it’s not going to happen. The closest thing you’ll get to a miracle is some good, productive marriage counseling.

Shower Cabin

Best Ways to Maintain a Shower Cabin

If you own a modern shower cabin, as opposed to a traditionally tiled shower enclosure, then the bad news is that you will still have to keep it clean.  The good news is that this is a whole lot easier than it is with old-fashioned shower enclosures, mainly due to the absence of tiling, which is just a time-consuming pain to clean.  What's more, if you go about it the right way, maintaining your shower cabin can take very little effort.  These tips can help. Wipe your feet (or put a towel down): Wandering around in bare feet can be very comfortable but it means your feet can get very dirty, very quickly, so you might want to think about cleaning off the surface grime before you step into the shower.  Alternatively, put a towel down on the shower floor and then just stick this in the wash after you've finished.  Either of these approaches will go a long way to keeping the floor of your shower cabin white and gleaming. Little and often is the way to go: Ideally, all shower users should end their shower by going around the enclosure with the showerhead in one hand and a brush in the other to get rid of surface dirt.  They should then use a microfiber cloth to remove the water.  Back in the real world, at least give the shower enclosure a quick once over to remove any residue from the products used or, as an absolute minimum, run the water over any visible deposits. Aim to give your shower a proper clean twice a week: Before you gasp in horror, this approach will actually save you time and effort over the long term.  We'll explain why as we go along.  As a minimum, clean your shower enclosure once a week for hygiene and practicality (plus it can help to extend the life of your shower).  Here are some tips on how to keep your shower enclosure sparkling. Start with the showerhead: Fill a container with white vinegar and leave your shower head to soak in it while you clean your shower.  If you do this at least every other time you clean your shower (assuming you clean it twice a week), then a short soak will be just fine. Remove suds promptly: It may seem like foam disappears all by itself if you just leave it but actually what happens is that the liquid content evaporates but the chemicals generally stay put, along with the dead skin cells and hair carried off your body in the foam.  The advantage of rinsing your shower after each use is that this will catch everything when it's at its easiest to remove.  After this, a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water will probably do the trick, especially if you use it a couple of times a week as we suggest.  If you do let the dirt in your shower cabin build-up to the point where you have to resort to a commercial cleaner, then make sure to use a non-abrasive one. Vinegar and water is the perfect cleaner for reflective surfaces: That same mixture of vinegar and water will also do a great job on the glass in your shower enclosure (and if you have mirrored tiles it works on them too).  The key here is to get all the liquid off afterward to avoid streaks so a microfiber cloth is a good investment.  Again, if you opt for commercial cleaners, make sure they're non-abrasive. Give your shower cabin doors plenty of love: Doors aren't just glass panels, they have handles, hinges/rollers, and seals as well, plus they open and close.  Handles are easily dealt with; your vinegar/water mix will keep them looking shiny.  Hinges/rollers don't typically need to be cleaned, but you could take the opportunity to give them a touch of lubricant to keep them moving freely.  The seals on the door, however, are places where dirt can easily accumulate, especially the one at the bottom of the door.  Use a stiff brush to get it off. Keep an eye out for mildew: One of the huge benefits of shower cabins and compared to traditional shower enclosures is that they are practically immune to mildew and mold due to the absence of both tiling and shower curtains, which are the main places it usually takes hold.  The only place mildew and mold could potentially attack a shower cabin is in the seams and you can avoid this by using proper sanitary silicone when you assemble the shower.  If, however, you have used ordinary silicone to assemble the shower, there is a small possibility that you may get some slight mildew or mold.  Ideally, you should take this as a sign that you should rebuild your shower using the right silicone, but realistically a simpler approach would be to apply that vinegar and water mixture using an old toothbrush and if that isn’t enough change to bleach and water and do the job again, very carefully and preferably wear gloves. Pamper your plumbing: If you live in a hard-water area then fitting a water softener to your shower can be a very good idea.  Even if you don’t (or you have fitted a water softener), taking care of your shower plumbing is still a good idea and it’s so easy, there’s really no reason not to.  As your first line of defense, put a protector over your drainage hole to trap hairs and such like.  Then pour some baking soda down the hole every time you clean your shower if you like add some vinegar or lemon juice.  If you start to notice a blockage (the water draining away slowly), then an old trick is to grind up some eggshells and put them down.  They are gentle scourers and will often do the trick cheaply and naturally.  If all else fails, then look for a good chemical cleaner.   Read More:  1. Best Season to Move

What is the Best Season to Move?

If you need to move from one place to another from work or for any other relatively urgent reason, chances are you don’t really have much say in what season you will be moving. However, if you can choose, you should think carefully about which is the Best Season to Move. In order to get some inside info, we asked Miracle Movers to share their insight from their years of experience in moving in all seasons, even notorious Canadian winters. The Best Season to move: Spring Early in spring, the price quotes you can expect from moving companies will be somewhat cheaper, since the peak season starts somewhere in mid-May. That means that if you can nab an April date with fair weather, you basically get the best of both worlds – your move will be relatively cheap, and you won’t have to contend with extreme weather (be it hot or cold). On the other hand, you will have to schedule your move in advance, and knowing the weather that far in the future might be impossible. Additionally, if you have children, spring is peak exam season. Putting your children through the stress of moving in this period is something you should think twice about. Summer The proverbial best season to do pretty much everything is the summer. Some research has found that homes sold in the summer fetch higher prices, so that might be an incentive to consider a summer move. Furthermore, the weather in most places promises to be fair most days, so picking any date will likely result in a nice day. With the summer break, your children will not only not have to worry about school, they will also be available to help you – get them to pack their own things. When it comes to the downsides of a summer move, one of the most obvious ones is that everyone will pick summer, making your favorite moving companies pretty tightly scheduled – meaning the prices will be higher and their availability will be limited. Finally, extreme weather such as heatwaves and hurricanes in certain regions may also give you pause. Fall/Autumn Despite the stereotypical idea of a foggy and rainy season, the fall is actually generally a nice season with plenty of nice days that are ideal for outdoor activities, moving among them. Depending on your region, you may find that the fall is the most suitable season for a strenuous activity outdoors. Additionally, lower prices of homes in the fall may be better for you if you’re buying a home. Finally, if you move in the early fall, you will be all set in your home by the holiday season with Thanksgiving and Christmas in your new home. A major drawback of a fall move is that the school starts then, so moving just as your children start the school year may be less than ideal. With changing schools, leaving friends behind, it’s a lot of stress. Winter Finally, winter is the season when the least moves occur, especially in the regions where heavy snow is common. That, however, means that your move is likely to be much cheaper compared to other seasons. Additionally, with less work, moving companies will probably have more time to adapt to your schedule. On the other hand, the biggest problem with moving in the winter is certainly cold. Furthermore, you may also need to insulate your boxes and protect them from the cold and water to prevent any kind of damage to your things while moving. Ultimately, whichever season you pick, there are clear advantages you will get, and some disadvantages that you will have to contend with. Make sure to pick the season which suits your needs.
