You know the ones: gold, silver, and their less well-known cousins, platinum, copper, and palladium. The way we used to think about these investments has seen quite a transformation, along with civilization. We’ve started diversifying beyond just gold and silver.

Now you’ve got a whole ton of shiny options – IRAs based on precious metals, bullion trading (cause who doesn’t want to feel like a pirate?), certificates, investment-grade coins, and even ETFs and stocks. Who knew investing could be this exciting?

The New Gold Standard

The New Gold Standard

Talk precious metal, most minds dart straight to gold, which let’s agree has an undeniable charm. It’s been highly sought after since time immemorial, due to its rarity and non-rusting nature. Plus, investing in gold has been a traditional choice for many, and they’re not entirely wrong. Think about it – Gold’s stable price, easy liquidity and the fact that it can act as a cover during economic kerfuffles make it a sure winner in many investor’s books. I know right?

But don’t let that stop you from exploring the exciting slew of modern investment options, like digital gold, gold stocks, online jewellery accounts, and ETFs. And if you’re an adrenaline junkie who quite fancies the stock market, shares in gold mining companies could be your next big adventure.

What Are The Factors That Drive One’s’ Desire To Hoard The Shiny Yellow Metals

Gold has always been a center of attraction for the people. The allure of the precious metal, through generations, has mesmerized people in such a way that people have followed gold madly. There are some factors that drive one to chase shiny yellow metals. Let’s’ discuss it all here.

Inflation

When the economy is doldrums, it can use the metals to safeguard its economy from an imminent fall. The prices of the metal fall slowly. This is teh reason many people run madly after the metal. To save oneself, people go for gold as an asset. Thus, you can say that precious metal (like gold and silver) is a hedged against inflation.

World Of Political Crisis

War and the political upheaval district not only the order of a nation but also spread anarchy and unrest. Under this situation, people tend to run into a gold hoarding mode. It is considered that political upheavals and other issues like that do not affect the economy of a nation.

Systematic Financial Concerns

When some political events completely demolish the country’s internal system, the economy receives the first blow. Therefore, the overall impact on the economy is quite strong with systematic financial concerns.

What Are The Benefits Of Investing In Precious Metals

There are the benefits and the inherent value of precious metals. Let us try to understand it here for the sake of your importance.  Please keep in mind that fiat money has risks and uncertainty.  The value of the modern paper currency fluctuates from time to time. But the metals are far more flexible.

Rising Demand

The demand for precious metals keeps on increasing. Consider the central banks and governments, the pirate banks, or the private investors; the tendency to invest in intelligent metals keeps on increasing. They all ratify the investments in gold.

Remember, gold and silver are not the only essential to the financial sector; they come under manufacturing in modern times. The digital age can not exist without these metals. So you can say it is one of your advantages with precious metals.

Scarcity Elevates The Value Of These Metals

Precious metals like gold and silver are the rate resorces. There is a limit to the amount of gold present in the world. Only around 20% of the gold in the world remained to be minded. This is why the value of these metals keeps on increasing with time. Another study says that gold will no longer be there after around 20 years. This may be why the demand for hoarding such precious metals keeps increasing with time.

No Single Government Controls It

The precious metals are beyond the periphery of control of the central government. This independence from the government has made it immune to falling value. Gold and silver have their freedom, and one can easily take it from one corner of the globe to the other corner. The precious metals offer protection from government overreach. This is the reason the precious metals have their own value, that’s for sure.

The Pros And (Minimal) Cons – The Golden Skinny

So why invest in shiny rocks, you might ask? Owning a physical piece of gold (or pieces, if you’re lucky) comes with a sense of security that doesn’t quite compare to anything else. The value stays stable and can be traded easily, almost like your very own emergency fund. Surprising?

But like any investment, it does come with its cons. The returns from gold investments aren’t immediate, you’ll have to play the long game to really see a sizable profit. But patience is a virtue, right?

For those looking to get on board the gold investment ship, Augusta Precious Metals could be your first stop. This company promises a secure way to dip your toes into the golden waters. With their reputation, you’re setting sail for a secure financial future.

HAMP Program

When Is The HAMP Program Beneficial To You?

The Home Affordable Modification Program, called HAMP, provided individuals with aid in modifying their existing mortgage loans. This program was designed to provide homeowners with some financial relief to reduce the risk of foreclosure. The application of the HAMP program can make things work for you in all aspects. Do not make your choices in grey. Is HAMP Program Available? At the time of this writing, the Home Affordable Modification Program is no longer available as it was. The United States Department of Treasury established the program in March 2009. It was a part of the Making Home Affordable Program. It was effective on mortgages that were originated on or before January 1, 2009. The program was set to expire on December 31, 2016, with individuals able to apply for it through September 30, 2017. As of now, it is no longer available to individuals. What Did the Home Affordability Mortgage Program Do? The goal of this program was to encourage loan modifications for homeowners who were at risk of becoming delinquent on their loans. It worked to help reduce the frequency of missed monthly mortgage payments. HAMP program was beneficial for you and you have to make sure you do not make your choices in the wrong direction. Who Was Eligible for HAMP? Not all homeowners qualified for the home affordability mortgage program. To meet the requirements, individuals had to meet specific rules including the following: The loan had to be a first lien mortgage (second mortgages and home equity lines of credit did not qualify). It had the be a Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae loan. It applied to single-family homes, homes with up to four units, condos, cooperatives, and some manufactured homes. Individuals with an FHA or VA loan could use the program (but this was not a requirement of obtaining the modification). No vacant abandoned or condemned homes could obtain help. Modifications could happen only one time through the HAMP program. If the home met these requirements, a homeowner could then work with their existing lender to adjust their mortgage under some key guidelines. HAMP was not easy to qualify for, but for individuals who needed it, it provides a lifeline of important support. To be eligible for the modifications, the borrowers had to meet specific requirements as well. These included the following: Property owners that were current or no more than 60 days behind on their mortgage payments could be considered for a HAMP Trial Period. However, they must be determined to be in imminent default. Borrowers could be in bankruptcy or foreclosure, or in some type of pending litigation regarding the property, such as in a judgment from lenders. The key to obtaining these loan modifications was proving the borrower was struggling with some type of financial hardship. Borrowers had to have an expense-to-income ratio related to housing expenses of no more than 31 percent (applied to their gross monthly income). Individuals must still have some ability to make their monthly mortgage payments reliably after the modification occurs. Why Did Borrowers Consider HAMP? Borrowers were able to get help if they were struggling with financial hardship with the goal of avoiding foreclosure. This program was designed to help stop the flood of foreclosures entering the market after the housing crisis and financial difficulties that began in 2007. Individuals who qualified benefited by getting some type of modification to their loan. This may have included: A reduction in their interest rate Modifying the loan from an adjustable-rate mortgage to a fixed-rate mortgage Getting a principal reduction or a forbearance Getting a long term to help reduce the monthly payment Over its lifetime, HAMP saw several modifications to determine which type of properties qualified and to reduce some financial strain. Most importantly borrowers were able to modify their loans so they could remain in the long term. Lenders benefited from these modifications as well. Lenders were able to secure the loans for borrowers facing immediate financial hardship but had the likelihood of maintaining their mortgage payments over their lifetime. This helped reduce the risk of foreclosure, and an expensive process for lenders. Most importantly, it helped families remain in their homes. What Options Are Available Now? A home modification program is still an option for some homeowners. Other programs are available to help some borrowers such as the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Flex Modification Program. Many lenders offer modifications in-house as well. Borrowers who may be late on monthly mortgage payments or are facing financial hardship should consider speaking to their lender directly. Additionally, the Home Affordable Refinance Program, or HARP, is available. This option remains in place and can help a homeowner to secure a lower interest rate on their loan, get into a shorter loan term, or adjust their loan from an adjustable-rate to a fixed rate. Individuals facing financial hardship should seek out solutions from lenders. While the HAMP program is no longer accessible, other solutions may be available to help borrowers to avoid foreclosure, late payments, or even the loss of their home. Retirement Funds

The Best Strategies for Retirement Funds Distribution

Now that you have done an impressive job of accumulating your retirement funds, the next step of figuring a strategic means of distributing those funds with minimal impact on the tax efficiency of the various retirement accounts. However, this is often the hardest part. It involves calculating your retirement resources in a way to determine a smart way to maximize your benefits. Although everyone reserves a unique situation at the point of retirement regarding financial circumstances, needs and goals, there are a couple of strategies that cut across the retirement funds distribution process when planning your strategy. Consider the following few approaches to get you on the right track: Different Ways You Can Make Use Of The Retirement Funds  There are multiple ways you can make use of the retirement funds to develop your financial planning for the future. Work out the strategy that can work well in your favor. Work out the best plans that can help you to lead a stable life in your fifties. 1. Do an inventory Before you can figure out a withdrawal strategy, you must fully understand the available retirement resources so you can exploit them optimally. An inventory will give you a clear picture of the records you need to consider, among them, pension, social security, health savings account, ownership or interests in a business, real estate, FSBO Businesses, among others. All these assets are significant, but you must analyze what it really means and how it can work for you. What this means is that some assets have an income stream, while others do not. For those with an income stream, determine when the income will start coming in, for example, pension. 2. Understand the rules for your retirement assets As enlisted above, the retirement assets differ, and in this case, in the kind of returns, you get. With some items, the benefits of the assets increase every year, up to a certain limit. Consider, for instance, a pension. While you may receive a pension as early as 55 years of age, waiting until 65 can maximize your benefits. Understanding the rules for the assets allows you to make a calculated projection of how the overall retirement resources can benefit you a long while. While some people still work part-time jobs after retirements, the needs of people differ, and depending on what your needs are, with some assets, the longer you wait, the better your results. Remember that the resources need to support a reasonable life expectancy and that each plan is usually different. 3. Strategize your withdrawals The biggest mistake, common among people, is the assumption that they know how much to withdrawal. Fundamentally, the values in your accounts and your age, determine how much you can withdraw. Taking out more funds than you are required to attracts more significant income tax, and if you are not careful in your bulky withdraws, you could easily sacrifice the potential future tax-deferred growth of those funds. While your needs could play a big role in influencing your withdrawals, you must be smart and strategic. For instance, since the government allows you to delay your retirement distributions until around age 70, then that means you have to wait a longer period of time translating to withdraw more money. 4. Use the calendar to your advantage: The time of the year you consider your withdrawals has an often unseen impact on your fund distribution. The idea is to cut down on income tax for your distributions. For example, if you take a distribution on 1st of April, you would need another before 31st December, which would require that you pay income tax on multiple distributions. 5. Consider all accounts In your strategy for retirement funds distribution, you must calculate the required minimum distribution (RMD) for each of the accounts. Considering all your retirement accounts allows you to analyze all the assets you have. Still, you do not have to withdrawal from all accounts. The idea is to ensure that all your withdrawals, whether from one or several accounts, is that the money you take out must meet the overall required distribution. If managing all your accounts gets too overwhelming, consider a Rollover IRA to help you with consolidating your retirement savings. 6. Avoid guesses and calculate Every year has a different economic environment from the previous. You can therefore not assume that your RMD withdrawal amount is the same every year. Depending on the value of your retirement accounts, the year, and your age, you should be able to calculate the changing RMD in comparison with your cash flow needs, so you can determine whether your withdrawals would be enough to meet the requirements. Overall, some of these strategies might be cumbersome and overwhelming for you, particularly with age, and multiple retirement accounts to consider. For this reason, as you consolidate on those strategies, employ some insights from a tax advisor to help you understand the processes. Franked Dividends

A Helpful Guide To Franked Dividends In Australia

If you are an investor in Australia, it's likely you have come across the term "franked dividends." But what exactly are franked dividends, and why are they important to understand? This article will provide a comprehensive guide to franked dividends, including what they are, how they work, and why they can be a valuable addition to your investment portfolio. What is a Franked Dividend? You may be wondering, “what is a franked dividend?”A franked dividend is a type of dividend payment made by an Australian company that has already paid corporate tax on its profits. The term "franking" refers to the process of crediting the tax already paid to the shareholder who receives the dividend. The Australian tax system allows companies to pass on the benefit of the tax they have already paid to shareholders through franked dividends. This means that shareholders receive the full value of the dividend, as well as a tax credit for the amount of corporate tax paid by the company. The tax credit can be used to offset the shareholder's own tax liability, reducing their overall tax bill. How Franked Dividends Work To understand how franked dividends work, it's important to understand the basic structure of the Australian tax system. Companies in Australia pay corporate tax on their profits at the rate of 30%. When a company declares a franked dividend, it passes on some of these profits to shareholders, along with a tax credit. The tax credit is calculated as the amount of corporate tax paid by the company, divided by the number of shares outstanding. For example, if a company pays $100 in corporate tax and has 1 million shares outstanding, each shareholder would receive a tax credit of $0.10 per share. Shareholders can then use the tax credit to offset their own tax liability. If the shareholder's marginal tax rate is less than 30%, they will receive a cash refund for the difference. For example, if the shareholder's marginal tax rate is 20%, they would receive a cash refund of $0.10 for every $0.50 of franked dividends received. Why Franked Dividends are Important Franked dividends can provide several benefits to investors, including: Increased income: Franked dividends provide shareholders with a higher level of income compared to unfranked dividends, as the tax credit increases the overall value of the dividend. Tax benefits: As mentioned, shareholders can use the tax credit from franked dividends to offset their own tax liability, reducing their overall tax bill. Lower risk: Companies that pay franked dividends are typically well established, with a proven track record of profitability. This makes them a lower-risk investment compared to companies that do not pay dividends. Diversification: Adding franked dividend-paying stocks to your investment portfolio can provide diversification, as these stocks tend to come from different sectors and industries compared to other types of investments. Long-term growth: Companies that pay franked dividends are often focused on long-term growth, which can benefit investors in the form of capital appreciation and future dividend payments. Conclusion Franked dividends are a valuable component of the Australian tax system, providing investors with increased income, tax benefits, and diversification opportunities. By understanding how franked dividends work, you can make informed decisions about your investment portfolio and take advantage of the benefits they offer. Whether you are a seasoned investor or just starting out, franked dividends can be a valuable addition to your portfolio.
