With a length of nine yards, the Nauvari saree holds a significant place in Marathi culture. The unique dhoti-style draping of a Maharashtrian saree has an intriguing history behind it. When Marathas were invaded by foreign forces, the Marathi women wanted to support their husbands and sons in any capacity. They wanted to accompany them to the war.

To ensure that their saree doesn’t become a hindrance, they would drape them like trousers. This would let them move freely without compromising on their traditional wear. Since then, this practice has continued and has become a ritual.

Thus, in a traditional Maharashtrian saree, a Marathi woman is a living, breathing story that exudes rich Marathi culture and a beautiful display of strong-willed Marathi women.

Here are some tips for you to try while wearing your Maharashtrian saree in the traditional dhoti style:

Tip 1 – Draping Style

Here’s how the Maharashtrian bride can drape her saree in the famous traditional Maharashtrian saree in dhoti-style:

  1. Firstly, the bride should wrap the saree around her waist in a way that brings the inner side of the saree out on her left side. There should at least be 1.5 meters of excess fabric on the same side.
  2.  After leaving the excess fabric, the bride will then overlap the material on the left and right sides and wrap it around her waist tightly to secure it into two knots.
  3. Once the fabric gets secured on the waistline, she’ll pick up the saree pallu on the right side from the top and wrap it around her right leg and bring out the rest of the fabric from under her right leg to the back. She will pick up the pallu on the back, leaving enough room for the cloth wrapped on the back to move quickly, and tuck the pallu in the center of her back.
  4. Then the bride should take half a meter of the remaining cloth from the pallu on the back and neatly make four small 3-inch wide pleats out of it and tuck it in the center as well, keeping the fabric on the outside. She can secure it with 1 or 2 safety pins on the back.
  5. The 1.5-meter remaining cloth on the front on the left side needs to be wrapped around the left leg and pulled out from the back. She’ll then pick the fabric from the lower end, pleat the rest of the fabric 2-3 inches, and tuck it above the previous pleats. She can use safety pins to secure the pleats.
  6. The last step for the bride is to take the remaining pallu on the left side and drape it across her right shoulder. She will again pleat the cloth that’s hanging over her arm into bigger sections. After gathering the pleats on her shoulder, the bride can secure it with a safety pin and even out the fall.

Tip 2 – Styling Tips

Here are few styling tips for the Marathi Bride to keep in mind while wearing her dhoti-style traditional Maharashtrian saree:

  1. It’ll be ideal for the bride to pick a soft yet firm fabric such as georgette or silk to allow the saree to flow yet still keep in place from where it’s tucked. It’s also recommended that the bride goes for a saree with a border on all four sides since that’ll be the most prominent thing on display while tying the saree. The bride should also remember to skip any prints that could distract the rest of the look or draping for the dhoti-style saree.
  2. It’ll be recommended for the bride to wear footwear with a bit of height as it will help her walk easily without the fear of tripping over the saree pallu.
  3. If the bride wants to skip the hassles of draping, she should go with a readymade dhoti or pre-stitched dhoti-style saree for her Maharashtrian wedding to save time and energy on fixing it later on. The other advantage of a pre-stitched saree is that it looks neater without spoiling the appearance of a traditional saree and is lighter on the waist.
  4. The bride should look for a plain saree with contrasting borders that are not too wide. Otherwise, it’ll mess with the draping of the saree. Also, to get a more beautiful and clean drape, the bride can wear leggings or skinny bottoms.

Tip 3 – How To Personalize Your Look

For the bride to style her dhoti-style Maharashtrian saree in a personal manner, she can try these different methods to pull off a contemporary style:

  1. The bride can drape her saree in the way mentioned above and add a belt to her waist, making her look slimmer and chicer. If she wants to keep her attire traditional, she can opt for a floral Kamarbandh, complimenting her gold jewelry and still looking enrapturing.
  2. Instead of choosing a matching blouse, the bride should go for a statement piece in a contrasting color with puffed sleeves, off-shoulders, heavy embroidery, or a beautiful cut in the back, elevating the rest of her outfit.
  3. The bride should wear tight cigarette pants which fit her form well to make the dhoti-style of the saree look more extravagant. The fabric for the pants needs to be firm and should match with the saree drape, or else the whole outfit will look out of place. If the bride wants to display the pant style, she can opt for a heavy print for the lower to contrast with the simple-bordered saree.
  4. The bride can choose to accessorize her outfit. However she likes, a heavier pair of earrings with a smaller neckpiece will focus on the outfit and make it stand out.

Conclusion:

Marriage day is alltime the most special day in the life of women. Every girl dreams of looking ravishing on that day. For the Marathi women, the Maharashtrian saree is like a symbol of respect to the culture. The user-friendliness of the dhoti style saree is making the saree style unique, so if you are planning to wear something different on your wedding day. Tryon this style.

Men's Haircuts

The Ultimate Guide To Men’s Haircuts Stylish Trends And Tips

In today’s fashion-conscious world, men’s grooming has taken center stage. One of the most significant aspects of a man’s appearance is his haircut. It not only reflects personal style but also boosts confidence. It is not just about the appearance but also the confidence it provides.  In this comprehensive guide, we’ll explore the latest trends, popular styles, and essential tips for men’s haircuts toronto. So, if you are someone who is often confused about which hairstyles you should choose, here are the best alternatives for you.  Classic And Modern Cuts Before getting into details, let me give you a quick fact. The shape of your face very much determines what kind of haircuts you should opt for. For example, classic cuts look good on people with an oval face. On the other hand, people with long faces should opt for more trendy approaches: The Timeless Crew Cut The crew men's haircuts have been a classic for decades. Its short, tapered sides and longer top make it a low-maintenance and versatile choice. Opting for the crew cut when you already have a side part is an unmatched hairstyle. Get ready to slay any occasion, the party, or even a date night with this amazing cut! The Dapper Pompadour The pompadour is a stylish option featuring a high top and short sides. It exudes a retro charm and works well for formal occasions. It rose to fame tremendously in the late 1950s when Elvis Presley and James Dean donned it. Isn’t it amazing to discover that hairstyles are still very much in vogue?  The Undercut The undercut combines short sides with a longer top, creating a trendy and edgy look. It’s perfect for those who want a bold statement. If you want to keep the neck cool and the eyes away from the sun, then this particular hairstyle is the most ideal for you. Moreover, it pairs well with a sharp beard on its top.  The Quiff The quiff features a textured top and shorter sides. It adds volume and suits various face shapes, making it a popular choice among men. For an untrained eye, both the pompadour and the quiff would look similar. However, both might have some close replications. Men wanting a quiff brush their hair forward to maintain the vertical volume.  Modern trends are not very different from primitive haircuts. It is just a matter of a few new looks that come with the existing ones. And when it comes to men’s haircuts, there can be one-style-fits-all. Given below are a few modern haircuts that look good on men: Hair Type Matters For Men's Haircuts This is not just for girls; hair type also matters in the case of boys. From perfectly straight hair to wavy strands and curly hair, there are various types of man’s hair. Check out some of the types below and which hairstyle suits them the best:  Straight Hair Styles Explore haircuts that complement straight hair’s natural sleekness and shine, like the slick back or side part. It is very easy to distinguish straight hair from other types. They are strong and can withstand almost any style easily. Hence, it ultimately provides a natural shine to men’s hair, and they look different in a room full of people.  Curly Hair Styles Embrace your curls with styles like the curly fringe or textured crop, designed to accentuate your hair’s unique texture. While they are quite thick, curly hair generally does not accumulate a lot of oil. Many boys actually strive to get this type of hair. And in fact, it is too difficult to maintain it- all you have to do is shampoo and condition it well! The Wavy Hair Type This hairstyle is something between the straight type and the curly one. Just like straight hair, it is prone to excessive oil build-up. But again, it develops the chances of frizz, too. For wavy hair, conditioning is more important than shampooing. Maintenance and Styling And while it might seem that men's haircuts do not need maintenance, they certainly do! From coming out of the salon to safely reaching your house, styling your hair in the right way is important. So, here are a few quick tips to retain the beauty of your bouncy hair.  Proper Hair Care Learn about the importance of regular washing, conditioning, and using the right products to maintain your haircut's shape and health. Firstly, you must avoid over-washing your hair. Wash them only once or twice a week. Always use conditioner with shampoo.  Styling Tips Discover tips for achieving the perfect style, from blow-drying techniques to using styling products effectively. For styling, avoid using too many products or tools. Although they might give a classy appeal before, they will eventually worsen your hair quality.  Related: How To Find A New Haircut Shop Like Bishops In Charlotte Finding the Right Barber Oftentimes, finding the right barber around you is the most daunting task ever. Who Owns Gucci

Gucci’s Hidden Puppeteer: Unveiling The Ownership Secrets

Guccio Gucci, the founder of the Gucci house, established it in Florence in 1921. Prior to starting the now-famous brand, Guccio Gucci relocated to London and got employment as a luggage porter at the Savoy Hotel. It is one of the most opulent and prestigious establishments in the city, which catered to the wealthiest members of society. It was here that he witnessed his future consumer market. He developed a profound understanding of what upper society sought in luxury goods. He excelled in the position at Franzi after returning to Florence and learning everything he could about leatherworking there. Gucci ultimately made the decision, with the help of his wife and two boys, to pursue his dreams. They opened their first official store in Florence, their hometown, using a loan and savings. Overview Image Source: pbs.twimg.com Established: 1921 Headquarters: Florence, Italy Founder: Guccio Gucci CEO: Marco Bizzarri Revenue: $13.66 billion Who Owns Gucci Now: Early Days Image Source: upload.wikimedia.org In 1953, America got its first taste of an iconic fashion house as Jackie Kennedy carried an instantly famous Gucci bag. She was at her husband John F.’s presidential inauguration ceremony. The bag has been called ‘Jackie’ ever since. This event only propelled their reputation further within the U.S. market. It further added worldwide recognition to complement their popularity all across Europe. The following ten years would prove even more prosperous as they commissioned the specially designed print scarf. It borrows its name "Flora" after Princess Grace of Monaco's favorite flower when she visited the Gucci boutique in Milan. This creation of a staple item helped cement Gucci's reputation in the upper echelons of society. In 1975, they expanded even further, opening their first fragrance line in the midst of fast growth. Gucci launched itself throughout Europe and Japan (adding even more stores). Rodolfo Gucci took over the company's management in 1982, and his son Maurizio managed it until 1995. By then, in 1987, the Gucci family had transferred 50% of its shares to Invest Corp shareholders. It completed the transfer of 100% ownership to Invest Corp in 1993. Who Owns Gucci? Image Source: cloudfront-us-east-2.images.arcpublishing.com Kering, a French holding company, acquired a $8.8 billion stake in the renowned Italian fashion brand Gucci in 2004. Kering's largest shareholder is Artémis, the Pinault family's investment firm headed by François Pinault. It owns a majority stake in the business through its parent company. Gucci is one of the most profitable brands within the Kering Group. In 2022, its revenue exceeded €10.5 billion (roughly $12.7 billion). The group's total revenue was €20 billion (roughly $21.1 billion). Who Owns Gucci: Tom Ford Era Image Source: images.wsj.net For the first time since 1921, a new designer took over the formerly family-owned fashion house of Gucci. Tom Ford formally became the creative director in 1994. With a focus on glamour, his debut collection for Fall 1995 restored Gucci's reputation as a leading fashion brand. Ford has redefined the house's identity and brought back its grandeur. He is also recognized for appropriating the Gucci name and reputation in that year. With his seductive and opulent collections, Ford has continued to rule the 1990s. The transition has helped Gucci go from family dramas to a prosperous period. Maurizio Gucci, the grandson and former head of Gucci, was assassinated in Milan in March 1995. In 1998, his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani received a 29-year prison sentence. She was sentenced for masterminding the assassination of the Gucci heir. The brand's success can be attributed to Ford's Fall 1995 collection. It featured hypersexual yet minimalist designs that celebrities adored, like Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, and Gwyneth Paltrow. They were all spotted sporting his clothing on the red carpet. The adored Jackie bag made a comeback in 1999 in never-before-seen colors and variations. This officially led to the era of the Gucci "it" bag. Does Guccio Gucci’s Family Still Own Gucci? After Maurizio sold the entire company to Investcorp in 1993, the Gucci family no longer had any involvement in it. Currently, Kering, which owns 99% of the company, is the owner and operator of the business. Who Has Taken The House Since? Powerhouses LVMH and PPR (now Kering) fought for control of the fashion house in their respective domains in the late 1990s. Domenico De Sole, the company's CEO at the time, resisted this, but LVMH started gradually acquiring Gucci shares. PPR swiftly rose to become Gucci's largest shareholder before the company could fully take over, a position Gucci still holds today. Ford hired Frida Giannini as head of accessories before he left in 2004 because of problems with PPR (Kering). Who Owns Gucci: Recent Past In 2006, Giannini became Gucci's most recent creative director, bringing elegance to the brand by emphasizing the famed Flora print over the double G monogram. Alessandro Michele became Gucci's new creative director in 2015 after Giannini left the company in 2014. Michele, who worked for the brand for 12 years as an accessories designer, created a whole new menswear collection in less than a week. In Milan, he debuted his first womenswear line, Gucci, in Fall 2015. Even though he was a relatively unknown designer at the time, the fashion industry embraced his first runway collection. Gucci's classic heritage merged with Michele's own eccentric style. His penchant for lavishness and extravagance has permeated the fashion house. In 2017, Gucci announced that it had set sales records under Michele's direction. Michele has drawn in a whole new market of younger customers with her dreamy, poetic interpretation of luxury for the twenty-first century. After seven years as Gucci's creative director, Alessandro Michele announced his departure from the company on November 23 of this year. We're interested to see who will succeed him and where the brand's aesthetic will go. There is still more to come in Gucci's history. Gucci Net Worth? Image Source: s41951.pcdn.co Gucci broke previous records in sales in 2018 by reaching a milestone of 8 billion euros. Their strategic foray into younger markets, where consumers between the ages of 18 and 34 accounted for 65% of their sales, was largely responsible for their success. In July 2020, its value was roughly $11.36 billion (€10.78 billion). The Gucci brand's estimated net worth as of 2022 was an astounding $18.1 billion, a huge rise from its October 2018 net worth of slightly over $11.55 billion (€10.96 billion). Wrapping Up Since the company's founding in Florence in 1921, Gucci has undergone significant growth. From producing high-end travel accessories and equestrian equipment, it has developed into one of the most prosperous global luxury brands with a global reputation. Their products, which range from ready-to-wear clothing to handbags and home décor, are available globally. Kering is the owner of Gucci, which is still a legendary fashion house with influence that extends well beyond Italy's borders and will for many years to come. Types of Fashion Designing Courses You Should Know

“You can have anything you want in life if you dress for it,” said the famous American costume designer, Edith Head. The professionals responsible for influencing people’s dressing choices are the coveted fashion designers we all love to draw inspiration from. However, the fashion industry has come a long way – no longer is it dominated by fashion designers. If you’re also looking to enter this industry, you can opt for different fashion design courses based on your unique sensibilities, as discussed below. Fashion designing In short, the art of designing beautiful clothes and relevant fashion accessories comes under fashion designing. Looking at the work of famous fashion designers, students of these courses are given a thorough understanding of designing clothes that meet the cultural needs of their time and are at the same time, in line with the latest trends. Under fashion design short course from reputed institutes like the Pearl Academy, students learn a whole lot about the different technical aspects of fashion designing such as freehand and digital sketching, color palettes, mixing and matching styles, knowledge of different textiles and how each drapes on the human body, history and evolution of fashion, trends within the industry, secrets of top fashion designers, and more. Using a fashion design course, students can make a successful career as a fashion designer or other products' designer, such as footwear, headwear, jewelry, and other accessories. Visual merchandising Where fashion designing courses teach students the art of designing original and influential designs, visual merchandising courses offer deep insights on making these designs attractive in the eyes of the brand's target audience via various brand promotional strategies. These courses provide students knowledge on implementing different creative marketing strategies, strategic store displays, window signs, and even interior product placement, source and manage inventory on a budget, and more. From brand managers to retail buyers and even visual merchandising bloggers, the career prospects for those having pursued this course are far and wide. These professionals are hired by marketing agencies, fashion stores, theatre companies, jewelry stores, and more. Textile designing Textile designing is a highly technical field wherein students are taught the art of creating designs for all kinds of fabrics – printed, woven, knitted, or surface ornamented fabrics, along with dying and embroidery. Students of this course will learn how to design fabrics based on their type and use. These designs can be for a certain body or space, and while textile designers are free to allow their imaginations to run wild, they still need to stay within the technical boundaries set by trends, culture, and of course, demand. Textile designing courses offer students a good eye for color, texture, and fabric patterns as well as different techniques of processing textiles. Textile designers are often in high demand among garment and textile export houses, branded fashion showrooms, boutiques, retail outlets, textile manufacturing units, among others.  Fashion photography Belonging to the umbrella of fashion communication, fashion photography is an exclusive genre of photography that deals with the display of clothing items and other accessories such as jewellery, headwear, even nail art, makeup, and hairstyles. Easy as it may appear, this field is all about showing the clothes and fashion accessories in such a manner that the particular brand’s products appear to be enticing to its target audience. Fashion photography students learn more than creative photography; they learn how to balance creativity with the brand’s business goals for promotional purposes. Fashion photography is a highly lucrative career option involving different sub-niches such as catalog photography, editorial photography, high-end and street fashion photography, and more. The world of fashion is advancing at an unparalleled rate. And where once only fashion designers reigned supreme in the industry, the fashion design industry has opened its doors wide for other successful fields worth exploring.
