We should invest in our bedroom. After all, this is our retreat after a long day, our haven. It’s where we can relax and meditate. You don’t have to break the bank to have a cozy bedroom. Whether you have a small space or a big and spacious bedroom, you can revamp your area at an affordable price.

You can go ahead and search the net for whatever blog feels appropriate to your DIY bedroom makeover! Here are cheap and simple tips to give your bedroom a new look:

Clean Your Room:

It’s free! If you’ve been the busy type, you may find old receipts scattered on your dresser, expired products, clothes you no longer use, trinkets, and knick-knacks that are just gathering dust. Some tips when cleaning your room include:

  • Throw away things that no longer give value to you.
  • Donate items that are still in good condition but you no longer need.
  • Pass off items to friends and family that you may feel would better serve them than you.

No matter how you style your room, a messy one will destroy its overall look and feel. Want to know why hotel rooms always have a very comfortable feeling? No unnecessary things are lingering around.

Organize Your Products, Cosmetics, and Clothes:

Bins, bins, and even more bins! Use one color and style of containers, and each one should store one category of products. Clear and transparent drawers give a sleek and polished look and let you see what’s inside. Your motto should be: Everything always has its place. Clothing pieces that are “loose” and “awkward” on hangers (like underwear, socks, ties, scarves) will look neat if you store them in organizers specifically made for them. Other ways you can organize your products, cosmetics, and clothes include:

  • Start by decluttering and throwing away expired products and by donating clothing pieces that you haven’t used in the last six (6) months.
  • Put your makeup brushes all in one cup holder, mug, or whatever you can find lying around your home that you haven’t necessarily been using anymore.
  • If you have boxes that are unused, wrap and decorate these boxes so you can use them to store makeup by kind: blush, foundation, eyeshadows – all in their place.
  • Sort and divide your clothes by kind: jackets all in one place, jeans, shirts, blouses, dresses, and so on. Sorting will help have all your clothes in plain sight.
  • Maintain the organization system that you have created (so when you get an item, put it back to where it belongs – don’t mix and match again!)
  • If you can use the space under your bed, do so. You can keep shoes hidden from sight to minimize clutter.

Clean Those Sheets or Buy a New Set!

bed sheet

Maybe you’ve put off cleaning your sheets in a long time. Now is the time to do it! A fresh, crisp, and clean set of sheets or colourful decorative bedding will significantly change the look of your room – and the feel of it, too. If you haven’t already done so, now could also be the time to take advantage of that ongoing homeware sale. Making a big switch from your all-white set to being more adventurous and going for decorative bedding will totally revamp the look of your room! Buy new sheets to replace your dying, old ones. On this note, too, make sure your set of sheets match the overall theme and color scheme of your bedroom. Mismatched sheets will blotch the look of your room.

The Floor Matters, Too:

If replacing your flooring isn’t on the budget right now, rugs can do just the trick. If your existing carpets are dirty and too old looking, then maybe like your sheets, it’s about time to get new ones as well. A good trick is to use dark-colored rugs for high-traffic places like your bedroom door so that dirt isn’t readily visible. For accent rugs, go bright or printed. Other tips when selecting a rug for your bedroom include:

  • Study your floor plan and choose the rug that best fits the area that you’re going to fill.
  • Focus on the style that suits your bedroom: floral, Persian, classic, geometric, monochromatic. See what your room needs.
  • Choose the right material. For bedrooms, rugs made out of light elements are acceptable.
  • Most importantly, pick a rug that you can maintain.

Change Old Knobs, Hooks, Locks, and Hardware:

Switching from silver to gold hardware or from gold to rose gold will do wonders. Just make sure that you stick to one hardware color! It’s not the right area for you to mix and match. Cabinet knobs and handles of different styles and materials are available in hardware stores and online, and installing them is as easy as one, two, three! Here are some tips on how to choose the perfect style and colour for your bedroom:

  • Always stick to your theme.
  • Don’t forget about functionality! Pick the kind of hardware that you’re comfortable using.
  • Have the same finish throughout either glossy, nickel, matte, brass, etc.
  • Remember the quality. Don’t settle for hardware with decorative purposes only. Make sure your chosen one will last you for years. You’re trying to stay cheap – not to remodel every year.

Buy Brand New Lights and Lamps:

room lights

Manufacturers usually come up with new and innovative lights and lamps each season. Having one statement piece will move your room from boring and dull to creative and soothing. (Bonus tip: yellow lights in your bedroom will set the mood for relaxation. Imagine yourself being in a hotel room in the comfort of your own home every night! Here are some tips when choosing the perfect light:

  • Go for LED lights. You want to be an eco-warrior, too.
  • Dimmer switches are perfect for your bedroom! Here you can control the brightness, which makes your overall ambiance more relaxing.
  • Keep your lamps close to your bed – so you can have the convenience of not having to stand up each time you want to switch on (or off) a lamp.
  • Make sure the lighting you choose is easy to maintain.

Install a Headboard or Hang an Art Piece:

wall art

A headboard can instantly bring elegance into your room. You don’t even have to buy a new bed at all. Hanging up a piece of art or a portrait on top of your headboard will also make your room look well put together. Wall clocks can be a good option as well, aim to choose the best wall clock to complement your bedroom. Wall clocks are artistic and modern which is the perfect piece for a room makeover.

Go Green!

Add in plants that require little to no sun exposure at all. If you can, however, go for fresh plants. Plastic plants cost more and will also collect dust and dirt. Certain plants can even cleanse and purify the air in your room naturally. Plant baskets have also become quite popular with so many beautiful options.

Use Only One Color of Hangers:

Hang all your clothes in a uniform direction and use only one color for all your hangers. Doing this will instantly reduce eyestrain. Black is a great color option as it neutralizes the various shapes and styles of clothing pieces that you may have.

Repaint Your Room:

Even if this is all you’ll focus on, a fresh new paint color will improve and change the overall look of your room. If you can do it yourself or ask a friend to help you out, then the better! You’ll be able to save more money. Try incorporating in an accent wall with prints or one with a different color. Some tips when choosing the right paint color includes:

  • Choose your inspiration and know your theme. Be sure your paint color will match your theme.
  • Make sure your paint color will look good when the lighting is either on or off.
  • If you’re still confused, go for neutrals.
  • Don’t be afraid to use testers first.

Don’t Forget the Details:

Make your small room look bigger by installing a mirror. Increase height by using vertical blinds or curtains. Add in photo frames. Buy an alarm clock that can also serve as a decoration. If you’re going for a boho-chic look, you can put up string lights or fairy lights.

Overall:

Use these ideas to get started. Take a quick look at your room and see where and how you can apply any of these tips! A brand new place is now at the tip of your hands. Get those creative juices flowing and sleep sound and well tonight.

Here’s How to Turn Your Garage into a Bedroom on a Budget!

So you’ve decided to extend your living space, but at the same time, you’d like to avoid big costs and construction works. How about that old garage that’s been spontaneously turned into a storage for useless stuff you are never gonna use anyway. Make use of the bedroom for developing your home interiors in the right manner. You can renovate that space and turn it into a lovely little bedroom. We’ve talked to the guys at Rockstar Garage Doors about this idea and they were more than happy to give us their thoughts and opinions on how to turn your garage into a bedroom on a budget. Different Ways To Turn The Garage Into Bedroom   There are multiple factors that you have to take care of while you want to arrange for the garage in the bedroom. Work out the plans that can help you to achieve your goals in the best possible manner. Do not make your choices in the wrong manner. 1. The Floor Remodeling a garage into a bedroom costs significantly less than building a new room from the ground up, no argument about the math there. When you start refurbishing, the first thing you pay attention to is the floor. You’ll notice, at least in most cases, that it’s made of concrete, which already a nice foundation for whatever material you choose to put on top to make it nice and cozy. You can choose a carpet or a wooden floor. These two are inexpensive and both very pleasing to the eye. You’d instantly gain a warm and comfy feel to the whole room. You can also use vinyl tiles which are probably the cheapest option but would still get the work done. You can even be more artistic and just stain the existing concrete floor, and then put some rugs and carpets around to give it a bedroomy atmosphere. 2. What to do with the walls? Since walls are already there obviously, you’d probably need to build windows, because the garage probably didn’t have any. Either way, in order to have a proper bedroom, you need good insulation. Blown-in insulation is a good and affordable option, or if your wall is of older date, you can build an additional wall about 3-inches away from the old one, thus leaving enough room to add proper insulation. Drywall is also a great solution for your ceiling and walls, it’s a cheap yet effective solution, but in order for the whole system to function well, you’d also need windows and doors that provide energy efficiency and good insulation. 3.The interior You’d probably want to add air conditioning to your new bedroom. The easiest and cheapest way to do that is to use the ductwork you already have in your house, just expand it. You don’t have to aesthetically match your new bedroom with the rest of the house at all, it has its own charm if you decide to leave it in a more rustic state with minimalistic style and furniture. Don’t forget to add vent openings in order to decrease the energy spent on heating and ventilation. Most likely, you will also need to find good garage door installation companies to replace your old, worn-out garage door. You can easily turn this ‘’new space’’ into a guest room or even put it for rent on sites like Airbnb and such. It would be good to use more bright and vibrant paint job with a lot of natural light pouring in because bedrooms are all about warmth, coziness, and space. 4. Property value and additional notes It is estimated that you can return a great deal of your investment after a year or so if you manage to adapt the garage into a bedroom properly. When it comes to your available budget, you shouldn’t spend more than 5 percent of your current property value in order to have a good return. If you plan to use it as a guest room or rent it, it is important to have a bathroom. Costs would be increased of course if you decide to build a new one, but it’s much easier just to put a door if the garage and bathroom share the same wall. Final Take Away   Hence, these are some of the essential facts that you have to take care of while you want to develop your interiors in the correct way. You have to ideate your plans in the right order to achieve your goals in the best possible ways. Make your choices in the correct manner. Work out the plans that can have a long-term impact on your business to achieve your goals in a better way. Do not make your choices in grey while you want to improve your business in the correct manner. Try to achieve your plans after developing the correct strategy. According to my, homemade mosquito trap is the best mosquito trap among them. And, in this article, I am going to assist you on how to make a homemade mosquito trap at home easily. Homeowners, as well as commercial establishments, should realize the dangers of mosquitoes. There are many serious dangers and diseases that you can end up contracting. From malaria, and dengue to encephalitis, not only can it ensure that you stay bedridden for weeks, but in extreme cases, it can prove to be life-threatening. Dump and wetlands are the main sources of mosquitoes' breeding place. So, make sure there are no spaces inside or outside your house where water is logged or dump areas. If you find any, try to clean them fast before they increase their number immensely. Carbon dioxide is a gas that attracts mosquitoes and following carbon dioxide traces; they find their victims out to bite us. We leave carbon dioxide at the time of our inhaling. How does a homemade mosquito trap work? Cool! The concept is very simple, and anyone can do it without any hassle. In this trap, a plastic water bottle is needed to make it. In it, there is a mixture of yeast and sugar. When the yeast consumes the sugar, it started to produce carbon dioxide continuously. As the little bugs attract carbon dioxide, they fly in the water bottle and get stuck. After a few times, they die inside. This is the basic concept of making and executing a trap that can attract mosquitoes. After clearing the main concept of the trap, I would like to describe to you the ways of making the mosquito trap. To do the entire process, all you need are a few materials along with a water bottle (a maximum of 2 liters can do the job perfectly). So, let’s get started…. Materials you need: An empty 2 liters plastic water bottle Scissors or box cutter or razor knife Duct tape A marker (red or black will do) ¼ cup brown sugar 1 cup of hot water (need to make it cool later) 10-gram brewer yeast As you have arranged all the materials mentioned above, it is time to start the next steps. Cutting the water bottle to make a funnel: With the help of scissors or a box cutter, you can cut the bottle at the desired point. To make it easier, you can use a marker to make a circle on the bottle where it needs to be cut. You should cut the bottle 4 inches from the lid of the bottle. Do it carefully as there are no unfinished zigzag edges that may cause harm to your hands. Now, if you put the top part of the bottle facing down, it should look like a funnel through which mosquitoes will enter. Water, brown sugar, and brewer yeast: With the measuring cup, take 1 cup of water into a pot and boil. Allow it a few moments to be cool and then pour brown sugar with the water to make a mixture. You should wait a few moments to dissolve the sugar. When it dissolved, add yeast to the mixture and let it be cool again. Make sure you have put the mixture into the lower part of the bottle (bigger part). Now place the top lid onto the bottle facing down so that it can make a funnel. Use duct tape to wrap the uneven edges as they can harm your hands while moving. The trap is ready for the action: As the funnel to trap mosquitoes is almost ready to use, and the yeast is ready to consume sugar to produce carbon dioxide, the play begins. Keep one thing in mind that carbon dioxide will produce as long as the yeast eats all the sugar up. After that, it will not work as a trap. In this case, you can reuse the trap again and again. The yeast may take only two weeks to eat up all the brown sugar and end producing carbon dioxide. But you should not worry about it as you can replace all the materials, again and again, to rejuvenate the trap for attracting the little vampires. In this way, drive the annoying mosquitoes away and keep your surroundings these little bugs-free to lead a healthier and happier life. Now, you can enjoy the summer vacation sitting on your armchair at the time of sunsetting. A homemade mosquito trap can ease the chances of your disease rate. If you do not want to get your hands dirty or do not have time to invest in the creation of such tools, there is an easy way out. You can always look at some cost-efficient and affordable residential mosquito removal services that guarantee peace of mind and great hygiene for your home. Metal Studs

Why Metal Studs are More Suitable for Your Construction Works

When it comes to building structures, it is preferable to consider using metal studs in place of wooden studs for non-load bearing walls. Research shows that more than 50% of structures are built with metal studs made from cold-formed sheets. However, metal studs conduct cold, but builders prefer using metal studs in place of woods for the following reasons. 1. Metal studs are lighter than wooden studs and convenient to work: Metal studs are lighter in weight than wooden studs because of their hollow shape. This makes them less bulky than wooden studs in terms of transportation and storage. When cutting metal studs using aviation snips, there are no sawdusts, unlike cutting through wooden studs. But it is advisable to protect your hands from sharp ends using gloves, especially during galvanized steel frame building construction. 2. Metal studs are easier to handle: In terms of installation, metal studs weigh far less than wooden studs and are held in place with screws. Therefore, it easy to correct installation blunders with metal studs. 3. Metal studs are less prone to attacks from atmospheric elements: Metal studs are not inclined to stresses and uneven shrinkage. Unlike wooden studs, which are susceptible to such factors with time. Also, metal studs are more resistant to mold and rot, which are common wooden infections. Although metal studs rust with time, this is preventable by installing a vapor barrier on the concrete floor. This explains the durability and sturdiness commonly enjoyed with galvanized steel frame building. 4. Metal studs have a higher tensile strength than wooden studs: Metal studs have a higher tensile strength and flexibility than wooden studs. Therefore, they are preferred for construction in wind prone areas and seismic zones like the Gulf Coast states of the USA. 5. Metal studs are resistant to fire and insect attacks: Metal studs are not prone to insect attacks like carpenter ants and termites, which can cause grave damages to wooden studs. Also, in terms of fire outbreaks, metal studs are fire resistant and do not burn in the case of a fire outbreak, unlike wooden studs. 6. Metal studs have a higher cost advantage: Wooden studs cost 15% lesser than metal studs, but metal studs offer cost advantages in other areas. These advantages cut across warranty call-backs in the sales of metal studs are much reduced because metal studs are not susceptible to shrinkage, and additional stress-related factors. Buildings built with metal studs do not have cracks or nail pops to fix after completion. Therefore, scraps are significantly reduced. Up to 20% wastage is recorded when wooden studs are used in construction. Hence the cost of disposing of discarded materials is decreased considerably. 7. Higher insurance discounts: Owners of buildings built with metal studs enjoy a higher insurance discount due to lower risk factors. Unlike buildings built with wooden studs, which attracts a higher insurance premium because of their higher susceptibility to fire and other environmental factors. Conclusion: Metal studs are preferable for buildings because they are environmentally friendly compared with wooden studs. They can be recycled and are readily available in similar wooden dimensions.
