Top 5 Facts To Know About Geiger

Facts To Know About Geiger

If you’re an avid fan of comics produced by the independent company Image Comics, you’ve probably heard the buzz about Geiger, a new post-apocalyptic series. Here are the top five facts to know about the series before you head to your favorite store to purchase all the available issues.

1. It’s Made by Experienced Comics Creators

Geiger is not the work of inexperienced artists, and you can tell the moment you look at the cover. Geoff Johns, who’s known for his work on Batman: Three Jokers, writes the series, and Gary Frank, who’s known for his work on Supergirl and Action Comics, illustrates it.

2. It Takes Place in a New Universe

Instead of exploring the worlds so often developed in comics, Geiger does not take place in the Marvel or DC universe. Instead, it’s set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. The Earth is covered with radioactivity, the remnants of a devastating nuclear war. The remaining humans must try to continue their lives without conflicts with the other hopeless, distrustful survivors.

3. There Are 5 Issues Planned

Image Comics has five issues of Geiger planned for release in 2021. The first one, which originally features a mysterious silhouette against a nuclear mushroom cloud in the shape of a skull, came out on April 7, 2021. This issue is 32 pages long, and the others should be around the same length. Since Geiger’s debut, new issues have been released monthly, and the final issue is set for August 4, 2021.

4. There Are Multiple Covers

Several issues of Geiger have already sold out, and Image Comics has started selling some of them under different covers. For example, in its second printing, the first issue’s cover is black, white, and green. It features a semi-transparent skull against an irregular green oval that has wisps of smoke coming off it.

The rest of the background is completely black, except for the printing details. As a result, don’t get confused if you go to the store and see lots of different designs. If you’re a true comic fanatic, you’ll try to collect them all.

5. The Title Character Is Not What He Seems

The title character is a mystery not just to readers but also to the other people in his community. Living alone in an area so destroyed by nuclear waste that no one else will go there, Geiger is often called the Glowing Man. However, he’s actually named Tariq Geiger, and he loves his wife and children deeply.

They’re stuck in a fallout shelter, waiting for Geiger to make the world safe for them again. Geiger, who has been exposed to the radioactive environment outside the shelter, can use radioactivity to fight other people. He also no longer gets hurt when he walks through his environment without protection. While these qualities allow him to protect his family, they also make the people around him see him as a monster.

Now that you’ve got all the context you need, it’s time to catch up on the latest issues of Geiger before the new one is released.

1989 Taylor’s Version Is Out: Why Is Taylor Swift Re-releasing Her Old Albums?

Taylor Swift has released 1989 Taylor’s Version, her fourth re-recorded album to hit the audience from her extensive catalog. She released her first re-recorded album in 2021, starting with Fearless (Taylor’s Version). After which, Red (Taylor’s Version) followed, and Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) subsequently. In 2019, Scooter Braun bought the music label Big Machine Records. He is popular for discovering Justin Bieber. Swift signed with them from 2006 to 2018. Everyone may not be familiar with the Anti-Hero songstress’s career. And it can be hard to understand why the 33-year-old is going back to remaking old songs. There is a backstory. 1989 Taylor’s Version Re-released: Why Though? Image Source: preview.redd.it Scooter Braun gained the rights to Taylor’s master recordings of all the music she ever made. This happened while she was still with the label. Her six albums are in the bunch, namely Taylor Swift (2006), Fearless (2008), Speak Now (2010), Red (2012), 1989 (2014), and Reputation (2017). This means that anyone wanting to license Swift’s songs for movies or TV Shows would have to get Braun’s permission. They would also pay him in the process. On her Tumblr, Swift wrote in July 2019, “For years I asked, pleaded for a chance to own my work. Instead, I was given an opportunity to sign back up to Big Machine Records and ‘earn’ one album back at a time, one for every new one I turned in. I walked away because I knew once I signed that contract, Scott Borchetta [CEO of Big Machine Records] would sell the label, thereby selling me and my future.” She further added, “I had to make the excruciating choice to leave behind my past. Music I wrote on my bedroom floor and videos I dreamed up and paid for from the money I earned playing in bars, then clubs, then arenas, then stadiums.” How It Started? Image Source: media-cldnry.s-nbcnews.com In short, Taylor Swift left Big Machine Records, and then Scooter Braun acquired them. This means that now he owns all her songs. Neither of the parties seem to agree on the details, though. After the first shot Taylor fired at Braun in July 2019, Kelly Clarkson advised Swift through Twitter, saying, “I had to make the excruciating choice to leave behind my past. Music I wrote on my bedroom floor and videos I dreamed up and paid for from the money I earned playing in bars, then clubs, then arenas, then stadiums.” In August of the same year, Taylor took Kelly’s advice and announced that she would re-record her albums. She said this while appearing on Good Morning America. She said, "Yeah, that's true. It's something that I'm very excited about doing because my current contract says that starting November 2020—so next year—I can record albums one through five all over again. I'm very excited about it because I think that artists deserve to own their work. I just feel very passionately about that." How It Went? Image Source: variety.com Things got dirtier with time When Swift posted again on Tumblr. She slammed Scooter as well as Big Machine Records CEO Scott Borchetta at the 2019 AMAs. Swift went after them for preventing her from performing her old songs. She wrote, “Guys—it’s been announced recently that the American Music Awards will be honoring me with the Artist of the Decade Award at this year’s ceremony. “I’ve been planning to perform a medley of my hits throughout the decade on the show. Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun have now said that I’m not allowed to perform my old songs on television because they claim that would be rerecording my music before I’m allowed to next year.” The only way he could have access to her old songs was if she stopped talking about them and making re-records. Swift spoke of this event in the following words: “I feel very strongly that sharing what is happening to me could change the awareness level for other artists and potentially help them avoid a similar fate,” Taylor said. “The message being sent to me is very clear. Basically, be a good little girl and shut up. Or you’ll be punished. This is WRONG. Neither of these men had a hand in the writing of those songs. They did nothing to create the relationship I have with my fans. So this is where I’m asking for your help.” Taylor asked her fans to “let Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun know how you feel about this.” This meant that they could depend on the other artists that Scooter manages. How It’s Going? Image Source: pbs.twimg.com Taylor Swift urged, “I’m hoping that maybe they can talk some sense into the men who are exercising tyrannical control over someone who just wants to play the music she wrote,” Taylor said, later adding, “I just want to be able to perform MY OWN music. That’s it. I’ve tried to work this out privately through my team but have not been able to resolve anything. Right now, my performance at the AMAs, the Netflix documentary, and any other recorded events I am planning to play until November of 2020 are a question mark.” In 2021, Taylor Swift re-released Fearless and Red to roaring success. She ensured that her fans knew why she was re-recording her albums. She not only dropped Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version), but she also released new singles previously unreleased “from the vault.” Then she did it in a bid to attract her fans to her re-recordings. When she was promoting Red (Taylor’s Version) on Late Night With Seth Meyers, she told fans, "So, when something says '(Taylor's Version)' next to it, that means I own it, which is exciting!" Since this mess, Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato have parted ways from Scooter as their manager. We do not know the details yet. Justin Bieber, too, is on the list, looking for new management. Taylor dropped Folklore as a surprise in 2020, and many of her songs called out Scooter and Scott. Songs like "Mad Woman," "My Tears Ricochet," and "The Lakes" apparently referenced her feud with Braun and Borchetta. In her October 2022 release of Midnights, her single Vigilante Shit, she sings all about getting her revenge while Karma promises to visit those that deserve it. Her release of 1989 Taylor’s Version adds just that much to the iconic position Taylor holds. Wrapping Up "I'm takin' my time / Takin' my time / 'Cause you took everything from me / Watchin' you climb / Watchin' you climb / Over people like me." Swift's "new" work stands out because of the intention behind it and the developments that brought her to this point. Every musician is essentially doing business. It is a startup with limited equity available for division among labels, publishers, and other stakeholders. As the business grows, the musician's share of the pie becomes smaller and smaller. The desire for greater equity motivated Swift's change in label. It would also guarantee that everyone who contributed to the art would benefit from their work. In her own words, "ensuring that profits from the future sale of Spotify shares would be returned to artists" was the most important condition for her. This financial detail may seem out of place for a singer-songwriter who performs in a cottage-like set in a fairy-tale forest. Swift is far savvier than her persona suggests. She has always been aware that even artists with strong brands like hers are vulnerable to exploitation. After building an empire by writing deeply personal songs, should she really sell her story so cheap? Have you heard 1989 Taylor’s Version? Did you like it? Its endearing characters like sisters Jinx and Vi and the world of Piltover and Zaun were its main attractions. However, some famous playable characters from the game appeared as their past selves before transforming into something else entirely. One such character is Viktor Arcane, a genius scientist at odds with the Academy, Heimedinger, and rival Jayce, voiced by Harry Lloyd. Even though he is depicted as a villainous and mechanized cyborg in the games, Arcane shows him as an aspiring scientist before his metallic transformation and apparent fall from grace. If you know all about this character and his fate in the ending scenes of Season 1, I have more information for you. Therefore, keep on reading to learn more about Viktor. Who Is Viktor Arcane? Image Source: www.looper.com Viktor is a driven Zaunite inventor who lives in Piltover and works as Jayce Talis Jayce Talis' partner. Viktor, who came from the undercity and was formerly hired by Heimerdinger. Heimerdinger, as his assistant, worked his way up through the Academy with the hopes of bettering people's lives. But, when he learned he was terminally sick, his research became more challenging. He, though, seems unfazed by his illness and is unwavering in his pursuit of a solution. Viktor Arcane Early Life Image Source: cdnb.artstation.com Viktor, who was born in the underground city of Zaun years ago, grew up in a low-income household in the dirty Undercity. He had to use a cane to get around because he was conceived with a disability in his right leg. This made it challenging for someone like him to interact with the other kids, but beyond his physical limitations and isolation, the little boy was smart and creative, with a talent for building machines on the nights he was alone. Viktor came into an underground dungeon with a secret lab one day while fiddling with a miniature boat in the river. He encountered Singed, a Zaunite alchemist who was intrigued by the little boy's skill. When Viktor saw Rio, a weird animal that Singed characterized as just a "rare mutation" he was attempting to save from death, his curiosity overcame his initial fear of the elderly man. Singed dispatched Viktor to gather resources for him after the monster, and Viktor immediately made friends. Singed accepted Viktor's offer to assist him in his research. Their alliance wouldn't last long, though, as Viktor quickly found that Singed had tortured Rio to maintain the genetic material of the mutation by keeping her alive through implants and potions, a practice that had put her in a condition of chronic anguish. This shocking information caused the youngster to flee Singed's lab, weeping. How Does Viktor Look Like? Image Source: rare-gallery.com Viktor was a thin human with white skin, amber eyes, and brown hair in his pre-augmentation state. He had a congenital defect that prevented him from walking and running normally, necessitating the use of a walking stick. His health problems would significantly deteriorate as he was exposed to Zaunite pollution. Viktor would gradually begin replacing his bodily parts ever since he began dabbling in self-augmenting Hextech projects. His right leg and hand were the first portions of his body to be magically changed by the Hexcore's abilities with the help of Shimmer. Later, he would switch to mechanical augmentations, replacing only a few of his bodily parts. What Happens To Viktor At The End Of Arcane Season 1? Image Source: static1.dualshockersimages.com Who survived Jinx's final season-ending prank is one of the questions that fans who watched the show and are eager for a new season have on their thoughts. At the dramatic climax, viewers witnessed a rocket launched by Jinx using an arcane crystal fly across the blood-red sky and smash into the council meeting room's glass. Although there are no indications as to who survives this incident, there are several theories floating about as to who might make it out alive and who might not. According to the assumption that no playable League of Legends characters would perish since they are essential to the investment from fans of the franchise, Viktor (Harry Lloyd) is another essential character who is anticipated to escape the explosion. Of course, we may always be incorrect, but Viktor's arc would also need to be completed. The last time we see Viktor in his own narrative, he has recently lost a close friend and scientist due to his self-preservation efforts. It will eventually remain in the hands of the showrunners to decide if Viktor has an opportunity at atonement or if that encounter with the last viewers marked the end of his time on the show, since he appears to be at his lowest position ever. What Will Happen To Viktor In Arcane Season 2? Image Source: static1.srcdn.com Viktor has a long way to go before resembling the League of Legends machine herald in any meaningful way. His health will probably deteriorate in Arcane season 2 as Viktor adds technology to his body to lengthen his life. This could provide new information about the scary Hex-Core and its effects on Viktor. Viktor's Character Early On In Arcane In the early episodes of "Arcane," Viktor's character is a brilliant yet introverted inventor, bringing a unique blend of intelligence and vulnerability to the show. As a gifted scientist in the utopian city of Piltover, he's deeply passionate about pushing the boundaries of technology to help those in need. However, his reserved demeanor and tragic past make him a complex figure. His empathy for the oppressed underclass in the city of Zaun, where he grew up, sets him on a path of moral conflict. Viktor's character early in "Arcane" is a relatable mix of ambition and internal struggles, drawing viewers into his world. His inventions and relentless pursuit of progress showcase his genius, but his personal demons and the choices he faces create a captivating narrative. With a deep focus on character development, "Arcane" provides a nuanced portrayal of Viktor that keeps viewers engaged and invested in his journey throughout the series. What About Viktor's Transformation In Arcane? Viktor's transformation in Arcane is nothing short of extraordinary. This character undergoes a compelling evolution throughout the series, making him a central figure in the League of Legends-inspired show. At the start, Viktor is a brilliant but idealistic inventor, dreaming of a better future for his hometown, Piltover. He's driven by a desire to harness the power of Hextech, a magical energy source, for the benefit of all. However, his noble intentions become corrupted as he's drawn into a web of political intrigue and power struggles. As the story unfolds, we witness Viktor's gradual descent into darkness. His initial altruism gives way to a ruthless pursuit of power and control. His body undergoes cybernetic enhancements, and he becomes more machine than man. This transformation mirrors his emotional shift from a caring scientist to a cold, calculating antagonist. Viktor's character arc serves as a cautionary tale, illustrating how good intentions can pave the path to villainy. His journey also explores themes of the cost of progress and the blurred line between right and wrong. Arcane masterfully presents Viktor's transformation, drawing viewers into his complex world and making them question the consequences of their own choices. Arcane examines Viktor's transformation into the significantly improved form that fans are familiar with, but it has yet to address Viktor's "glorious revolution” fully. In the League of Legends universe, he is a staunch advocate for technology's potential to overturn the existing quo and assist individuals who oppressive regimes have marginalized. Viktor doesn't want anything to do with the cult that regards him as a figure deserving of veneration. How Tall Is Viktor?
